Our first Top Earning Websites List was published in March 2009.
There have been significant changes since then.
Airbnb founded in 2008 did not make the original list but is here today. Myspace no longer features!
Please Note: Despite their significant size, some companies are intentionally left out because they are primarily retail-based that does web-based revenue, but ultimately the service or product offered does not necessarily depend on the internet to generate the majority of its revenue and certain companies have been left out because they have since been acquired by other companies. We have also excluded from the list any business that is primarily App Based.
Use this table as motivation. It is easy to think that the numbers below are impossible but at a certain point, the founders of the companies listed felt the same way. Also please see our various notes at the end of this list.
The last time we updated Google was the top earning website and Amazon was No 2 – this time they have swooped positions around. Amazon is that Juggernaut of a Money Earning Machine and they continue to innovate and grow.
In 2009 the top earning website was making $691 per second, today it is making $12,232 per second!

How Did We Calculate Who Owned The Most Profitable Website
Where Did We Find Out The Earnings Of These Companies?
To obtain the turnover of the companies in this list we first analyzed SEC 10-K reports that are submitted by publicly traded companies within 60 days of the company’s fiscal year-end.
For private companies, reputable sites such as BusinessInsider, Forbes, and Bloomberg were utilized and cross referenced to identify revenue amounts for each company’s most recent completed fiscal year. In cases of multiple sites showcased varying numbers, the lowest was used.

When we first released our top list of websites making the most money, we also revealed how much they earned a second. This was what really captivated our audience. With 31,536,000 seconds in a year, it is shocking how much these websites earn for every second of every day.
How much Amazon makes a second and from what income sources?
Amazon makes $12,232.68 per second.
Amazon makes money primarily through its online retail operations, which accounts for about 50% of its revenue. This includes selling physical goods such as books, electronics, and household items through its website and mobile apps.
The company also generates revenue through its cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services, which accounts for about 12.5% of its revenue.
Amazon also earns revenue through its digital content and subscriptions, such as Amazon Prime. Additionally, the company generates revenue through its advertising business and sales of hardware devices such as the Amazon Echo and Fire TV Stick.
How much Google earns per second and from what income sources?
Google makes $5,785.95 per second.
Google primarily earns money through its advertising business, which accounts for about 80% of its revenue. This includes ads displayed on Google search results pages and ads shown on other websites and apps through the Google Ads network.
The company also generates revenue through its cloud computing services, Google Play Store, and hardware products like the Pixel smartphone and Nest smart home devices.

Facebook makes $2,662.30 per second.
Facebook makes almost all its money through its advertising business. This includes ads displayed on the Facebook platform and ads served on other websites and apps through the Facebook Audience Network.
The history of the top earning websites in the world
For the last 15 years, our website has been announcing the top-earning websites in the world. We were the first to do it and are the authority when it comes to revenues from the biggest websites in the world.
Our journey began with a simple curiosity. We were intrigued by the earnings of the websites we frequented. When we started sharing these figures, down to the second, it sparked global interest, with millions flocking to our site for this unique insight.
In the beginning, the top websites were Google, Amazon and eBay. Over the years, they remain the highest earners. Now, though, there are more social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin.
How do you work out how much a website is earning?
There are several different ways to estimate a website’s earnings. Fortunately, the websites we mention in our list are large companies that often report their annual revenues because they have shareholders.
For those keen on understanding a website’s earnings, there are practical methods available. Online tools can estimate website traffic and revenue, providing insights based on factors like audience, demographics, ad volume, and click-through rates.
One way we have found how much bloggers and website owners make from their websites is by looking for interviews with the owner of the website. Often, during interviews, the interviewer will ask them about their revenue to get the reader or listeners’ attention.
